Accessibility Statement

MAC Trust — Missouri Association of Counties Workers' Compensation Trust

macwctrust.com

Last Updated: March 26, 2026

Our Commitment

MAC Trust is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of macwctrust.com in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

As a non-profit organization serving Missouri's county governments, we recognize that equal access to information is important for all members of the public, county employees, and officials who rely on this website.

Current Status

An automated and guided accessibility audit of our website was completed on March 26, 2026, by 54 Design Group, LLC. This audit identified a number of accessibility issues, including:

  • Images on our homepage that are missing text descriptions prevent screen reader users from understanding what they show

  • A site logo image link that does not have an accessible label, making it unidentifiable for screen readers and keyboard users

  • A logo image with an incomplete text description

  • An embedded Google Map on our Contact page has an incorrect element role that may interfere with assistive technology navigation

  • A link within the embedded Google Map that does not display a visible focus indicator for keyboard users

  • Additional violations were detected across 7 other pages of the site that will be examined in detail during Phase 2 manual testing

We have prioritized these findings and have committed to addressing all automated and guided audit findings within 60 days (by May 25, 2026).

Ongoing Commitments

We are committed to improving the accessibility of our website on an ongoing basis. The following commitments reflect how we are approaching accessibility as a continuous practice:

  • Image descriptions: We are adding or correcting text descriptions (alt text) for images on our website so that screen reader users receive accurate, meaningful information.

  • Link accessibility: We are updating our site header to ensure the logo and navigation links are properly labeled for all users, including those using screen readers and keyboard navigation.

  • Interactive elements: We are reviewing the embedded map on our Contact page to ensure it is fully accessible to keyboard users and assistive technology.

  • Remaining pages: We are scheduling detailed accessibility scanning of the remaining pages of our website where violations were detected, to identify and address any additional issues.

  • Manual testing: We are scheduling keyboard navigation and screen reader testing to be completed by April 25, 2026. Any additional findings will be added to this statement and remediated within 60 days of that date.

Remediation Plan

Our remediation is being completed in three phases:

  • Phase 1 — Automated and guided testing findings remediated by May 25, 2026

  • Phase 2 — Manual testing (keyboard navigation, screen reader, color contrast) and detailed scanning of remaining pages completed by May 25, 2026

  • Phase 3 — Manual testing findings remediated by June 24, 2026

This Accessibility Statement will be updated with the results of manual testing upon completion of Phase 2 on April 25, 2026.

Known Limitations

The embedded Google Map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps. Some accessibility issues within the map interface are related to the third-party component and may require coordination with the platform. We are actively working to ensure that the map's surrounding elements (including the correct ARIA roles and focus styles) are properly configured on our end.

Manual Testing

The current audit covers automated and guided interactive testing. Full manual testing — including keyboard navigation, NVDA screen reader testing, and color contrast verification — will be completed by April 25, 2026. Findings from manual testing will be added to this statement at that time.

  • At a minimum, annually

This statement was prepared by 54 Design Group, LLC. Audit date: March 26, 2026.

A Note on Ongoing Accessibility

Web accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. Websites change continuously — new content is added, platforms are updated, and components evolve, which means complete conformance at any given moment is not always achievable. What matters is that accessibility is treated as a sustained priority: remediating known issues promptly, building accessible practices into everyday content work, and responding openly to feedback from users with disabilities. That is the standard MAC Trust holds itself to, and it is reflected in the commitments outlined in this statement.
